The Gerona Strain
Seeds of the Gerona variety are now available, with cannabigerol (CBG) up to 8%, so far only available in cutting format.
Feminized seeds are ideal for those who want to start new quality crops while respecting the law.
Gerona is a hemp variety with a prevalent CBG content, perfect for those who want to grow light cannabis to be destined for all European markets because, contrary to what happens in the varieties with a prevalent cannabidiol (CBD), delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) it always remains below 0.2%, thus managing to comply with even the most stringent legislation, such as the Italian one.
During this 2020 this variety has been grown in Veneto, Marche, Trentino, Abruzzo and in greenhouses, always giving excellent results. It has been genetically characterized and registered with Phylos Biosciences, entering the world’s largest catalog of cannabis genotypes.
Hemp in Italy in 2020
During 2020 there have been ups and downs in the world of hemp, starting from the most relevant facts, we recall the issue of the recent MIPAAF Decree in which the inflorescences of industrial hemp are recognized among medicinal plants. This is great news and an indication that perhaps something is changing.
The uncertainty, however, always airs: Towards the beginning of September the surprising preliminary opinion given by the European Commission was published which wants to classify CBD as amazing. The final decision is scheduled for December, but if it were to be confirmed and final, it would be the European end of the cannabis light and CBD oils market as we have known it so far.
All this, almost by chance, happens in conjunction with the approval by the European drug agency of Epidiolex, the first CBD-based drug that has ever been formulated, and which can be prescribed for forms of epilepsy resistant to traditional treatments. This would automatically mean that CBD, even in Europe, is exclusively a pharmacological principle.

2021: The CBG market
2020 saw an explosion in the CBG-dominated hemp market, hitherto focused purely on cannabis light and industrial hemp, discovering the characteristics of this major cannabinoid and precursor of all other cannabinoids (including CBD and THC).
Canavasalus, is constantly engaged in researching and studying new varieties, with particular attention to CBG, which in 2021 will certainly reserve many surprises.
Gerona, and in particular the high CBG strains, are the ideal choice for those who do not want to ever find a cultivation with THC that exceeds the legal limits: CBG in fact, contrary to CBD is not linked to any relationship with THC , we can therefore obtain a production with extremely high CBG values, keeping the THC below 0.2%.
This is obviously not possible by cultivating varieties with a prevalent CBD content, whose content is proportionally linked to that of THC, thus resulting in a parallel growth of both cannabinoids within the plant.
Our proposal
As we continue to experiment with new varieties, Canvasalus proposes:
